Video..I went to the Phoenix Sky Diving Club with Cherie and watched the skydivers jumping from the Planes..

The anchor of the Phoenix metropolitan area (also known as the Valley of the Sun, a part of the Salt River Valley), it is the 13th largest metro area by population in the United States, with approximately 4.3 million people in 2010.[6][7] In addition, Phoenix is the county seat of Maricopa County and is one of the largest cities in the United States by land area.[8] Settled in 1867 as an agricultural community near the confluence of the Salt and Gila Rivers, Phoenix incorporated as a city in 1881.[9] Located in the northeastern reaches of the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix has a subtropical desert climate. Despite this, its canal system led to a thriving farming community, many of the original crops remaining important parts of the Phoenix economy for decades, such as alfalfa, cotton, citrus and hay (which was important for the cattle industry).[10][11] In fact, the "Five C's" (Cotton, Cattle, Citrus, Climate, and Copper), remained the driving forces of Phoenix's economy until after World War II, when high tech industries began to move into the valley

Detours offered a 3 hour City Tour which took us to the Biltmore Estates, around Town, up to a lookout and back downtown where we were able to do some shopping.

Phoenix, Arizona is known as The Valley of the Sun.

The Tour showed some history of the area, and a good overview of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley.

From the mountains you can see the spectacular view of the whole Valley, up to the shopping district of Old Town Scottsdale.

We stayed at The Best Western Hotel, which was a few minutes from the airport. They had a courtesy shuttle bus which we used to visit the Museum. Oliver, the driver pictured here was very friendly and helpful, and so were the wonderful front office staff.
A very substantial and delicious breakfast was included in the price. I also used the adequate Fitness Room, but did not use the spa and lap pool.
Having Denny's next door meant you had easy access to meals if you couldn't sleep and felt like a wander.
I can recommend this hotel for an overnight, and also for longer stays, as the shuttle bus was there to take you locally, and the tours collect you here anyway.
I loved Arizona, which is situated in the middle of isolated desert, and ringed with mountains. The plane coming down has some spectacular views, so make sure you have the camera handy. I enjoyed my stay here very much. I found Arizona people extra friendly, and met some wonderful travellers on the tours and trips.
We also went on a day tour to The Grand Canyon, which is a experience not to be missed.
